Learning how to use a speed square can be confusing especially if you didn’t go to carpentry school or learn under someone. It took me quite a while to learn the basic functions of it and I still don’t know many of the functions (specifically the hip/rafter numbers since I don’t build roofs). You should learn how to mark and scribe basic angles with the speed square though, it is the one function that has saved me so much time over the years. How did I learn it?
