The Independent Sports Bar and Grill erupted into a blur of red, white and blue high fives, cheers and chants Friday in downtown Portland as the U.S. Men’s National Team scored the first goal in its match against Australia. It was the second game of this year’s FIFA World Cup for the U.S. team, and the closest to home for Portland soccer fans.
